Do you want to sync Easy Digital Downloads customers to your email marketing list or contact list in your CRM after checkout?
FuseWP allows you to connect Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) to your email marketing software to sync your customers to your email list and assign tags to them after checkout based on their purchased products, categories, and tags their purchased products belong to.
You can also sync customers to your email list based on their order and subscription status (if the product is recurring or a subscription courtesy of the Recurring Payments addon). For example, if a customer’s order status changes from Completed to Refunded, they will be removed from the Completed email list and added to Refunded. And say their subscription to a product changes from Active to Cancelled, they will be removed from the Active email list and added to the Cancelled list.
FuseWP supports many email service providers and CRM, including Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, AWeber, Zoho CRM, Kit (ConvertKit), Drip, Brevo (Sendinblue), HubSpot, MailerLite, Sendy, Klaviyo, EmailOctopus, Flodesk, HighLevel, Omnisend, GetResponse, Mailjet, FluentCRM.
This article explains how to connect your email marketing software and CRM with Easy Digital Downloads using the FuseWP plugin.
Integrating Easy Digital Downloads with Email Marketing Software
To sync Easy Digital Downloads customers to your email marketing software and CRM, grab a copy of the FuseWP plugin and install and activate it on your WordPress site. After which, connect your email marketing software.
Syncing Easy Digital Downloads Customers to Email Lists Based on Purchased Products
Follow the guide below to segment Easy Digital Downloads customers based on the products they purchased in your email marketing software.
Go to FuseWP >> User Sync and click the Add New button.
On the page to add user sync rules, select an Easy Digital Downloads product as the source.
The Destinations metabox is where we configure the different order statuses of the selected Easy Digital Downloads product and their respective email marketing integrations. You also have the option to assign tags and map fields to your selected CRM or email marketing software.
An Example
In the screenshot below, Easy Digital Downloads customers who purchase the “Facebook Pixel Script” product are synced to the selected email marketing software or CRM.
If their order status is completed, they are subscribed or added to the “Customer List“. If their order is ever refunded, the order status changes from Completed to Refunded, and they will be unsubscribed/removed from the Completed email list and subscribed/added to that of Refunded.
As you can see, you can map the various order data (such as order ID, date, etc.) to custom fields in your CRM and email service provider.
Syncing Easy Digital Downloads Customers Based on Recurring Product Purchases
You can turn an EDD product into a subscription if you have enabled the Recurring Payment addon on your website. This allows your users or customers to be charged daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, and you can also set up free trials.
In the screenshot below, subscribing to “Gold Subscription” – a recurring payment product – will cause the customer to be added to the Customers list. If their subscription is ever canceled, they will be removed from the Customers list and added to the list specified in the Cancelled destination.
You can map the subscription data (such as subscription ID, expiration date, amount paid, etc.) to custom fields in your CRM and email service provider.
Syncing Easy Digital Downloads Customers Based on Product Category
To segment Easy Digital Downloads customers in your email marketing list or contact list based on the product category they purchased from, Go to FuseWP >> User Sync and click the Add New button.
On the page to add user sync rules, select an EDD category as the source and set up the CRM or email marketing list for your preferred order statuses.
In the screenshot above, customers who purchase from the Plugins category will be subscribed to the “Customers” email list. If their payment fails during the course of making payment via Easy Digital Downloads, they will be added to the email list defined in the “Failed” order status section.
Syncing Easy Digital Downloads Customers Based on Product Tags
Segmenting Easy Digital Downloads customers based on the product tag they purchased from is similar to the product category segmentation described above.
In the screenshot below, when a customer purchases a product tagged “wordpress”, they will be added to the “Customers” email list. If the order status of the purchase changes to Refunded, they will be removed from the Completed list and added to that of Refunded.
Don’t forget to save your changes when done and ensure the rule is active.
That’s how easy it is to connect Easy Digital Downloads to your email marketing and CRM platforms, including Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, AWeber, Zoho CRM, Kit (ConvertKit), Drip, Brevo (Sendinblue), HubSpot, MailerLite, Sendy, Klaviyo, EmailOctopus, Flodesk, HighLevel, Omnisend, GetResponse, Mailjet, FluentCRM.
